Major Industries recently announced the opening of its new online store  offering customers a quick and easy way to order a wide variety of LightBasic™ Quick Ship™ translucent panel skylights.

Reacting to market demand for easier access to daylighting products for new and retrofit construction, Major has created an online store that showcases their LightBasic™ Quick Ship™ self-flashing single slope skylights. Pre-engineered and shipped assembled, they can now be ordered online in minutes with a credit card, and are available in standard sizes from 2ft. x 4ft. to 5ft. x 10ft., with clear or dark bronze anodized finishes.

LightBasic™ translucent panel skylights are lightweight, meet OSHA fall protection guidelines (check regulations and restrictions in your area) and provide enhanced durability over similarly sized acrylic dome skylights. They also offer four sheet color configurations for light control, as well as an insulation option for enhanced thermal performance.

No matter what the project, their durability and economical price make them a versatile daylighting tool. Project Spotlight:

Ingraham High School

Ingraham High School in Seattle, Washington was recently given an overhaul that included a dozen new classrooms and an open, tiered space for the school’s technical programs. An open courtyard space was created to help tie together the multiple floor levels and provide an area for both socializing and casual learning activities. To help bring light to the area, translucent panel skylights were utilized, allowing for controlled natural light to fill the space without the distracting glare or uncomfortable hot-spots that could occur with clear glazing materials. Beyond the light control capabilities of translucent panel systems, they’re also a good choice for renovation projects because of their light weight, requiring significantly less structural support than a comparable glass skylight system.

The Ingraham School Project, designed by Integrus Architecture, is clearly a beautiful design - but it's an award-winning one as well, including the 2013 AIA/CAE Educational Facility Design Award, the 2012 AIA Washington Civic Design Awards – Citation Award, and the 2012 IIDA - INawards / Design IN Public - Winner in Class.
